The Fig Tree – 29/9/2012

Five days after the Day of Atonement, the Jews celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles, or the Festival of Booths, or Sukkot or the Feast of the Ingathering. This festival goes on for 8 days. 2 weeks ago, the Holy Spirit gave me this Word for today and I understand clearly why He wanted me to speak on this as we approach Sukkot.

The title of today’s message is “The Fig Tree”. What is Sukkot and what is its significance? To the Jew, it is the time they reflect on the forty years in the wilderness around Sinai. For that incredible wilderness season, the children of Israel had all their needs met, they were never ill, their shoes and clothes never wore out and they were governed by efficient, God fearing Judges, of course, led by Moses.
While we don’t want to experience any wilderness, we would surely appreciate efficient, godly leaders in our land, Amen!

Sukkot also addresses the fact that the Messiah will be coming back to dwell and rule in Jerusalem in the 1000 year reign. This season is also known as the season of Joy! Surely, it is a time to be joyous when all your needs are met and you don’t have to go to a doctor for some sickness and you are excited to be a part of the nations will behold the greatness of Jesus as He rules in Jerusalem in the 1000 year reign.
For reference, the Scripture you can turn to would be Exodus 23:16.

“And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field.”
